PADDY J. STUBBS

In the early seventies Paddy J Stubbs settled in Malta with his wife Janatha and soon made friends with members of Lions Club Sliema who elected him President of the Club for the Presidential Year 1978-79.
His experience through the involvement in the work of the Club, he realized the particular needs of Society particularly where the State was completely absent or where the efficacy of services provided by public authorities was disputed if at all available.
In developing his idea, Paddy was greatly supported by his wife Janatha, who after Paddy’s demise continued his legacy. Another assiduous supporter is Lions Club Sliema by holding some of their activities at the Park and by annual financial donations.
In February 2004, International President Dr. Tae-Sup Lee awarded Paddy posthumously with the ‘Lion Medal of Honour’ which was presented by International Director Howard Lee to Paddy’s wife Janatha at the Park of Friendship.
This honour was bestowed upon Paddy by the International President “for his deep commitment to the betterment of humankind, and for devotion to the cause of community service”.
