Private Tour Of The National Library Of Malta

On view is a page from the “Hortus Romanus collection” which was restored through funds raised by the Club. The Hortus Romanus is a series of eight volumes published between 1772 and 1793, and considered as one of the few Italian efforts at the publication of colour plate botanical books in the eighteenth century. The edition was very small and even famous collections including those of the British Library and the Library of Congress are missing one or more volumes. The National Library of Malta owns seven volumes of this exuberant series.
